The Middle East's First & Leading Pet Magazine
Hello!
It is good news that the Emirate of Abu Dhabi has now officially implemented the "No Kill" policy on stray pets, via federal laws. I hope the other Emirates will also follow. Poor animals from the streets were put down without mercy on a daily basis for the past few years on wrong advice. Cats were taken off the streets resulting in large population of rats and other animals which were attacking the homes. Now there is propoganda, to be aware of rat related problems and the authorities are preparing to tackle them.
Many rescue shelters are also being arranged for stray animals around the United Arab Emirates. This is a good sign and as the awareness of animal welfare increases, hopefully we will have less numbers of abandoned pets around us. Some of the veterinary clinics are offering free spay and neuter services for stray animals, others are offering discounted rates. All these points out to the increase in awareness and the nation's new outlook on animal welfare.
PETME will provide all support for such events or activities and please inform us when you have "Homing Days or "Rescue Operations."
Best regards to You and your Pets.
